Faculty Online Teaching and Design Course

Incentive Program: The Center for eLearning will provide a one-time stipend of $500 to faculty upon successful completion of this course.*

The Center for eLearning has developed the Faculty Online Teaching and Design Course (F.O.T.D.) to assist instructors who are new to teaching online and/or those who would like to learn more about developing a quality online course. This facilitated online course provides an orientation to teaching online at Cleveland State and focuses on best practices for designing an online course. Participants will gain hands-on experiences in organizing a course and developing a learning module. Prior participants have said this was also a great opportunity to have an experience as an online student!

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare to teach online by considering factors important to online delivery, such as instructor presence and online communications.
  • Use the CSU Course template to begin to build an online course that aligns with QM Standards.
  • Identify resources available for online course design.

Participants should plan to spend approximately 20 hours and come into the course with a syllabus, including a detailed schedule of activities.

*Please NoteTo be eligible for the stipend, your primary role at CSU must be either full-time or part-time faculty. GAs, students and professional staff may not be eligible. If you have questions on your eligibility or your role at CSU, please email Caryn Lanzo, Director of eLearning at c.lanzo@csuohio.edu.
