We are pleased to introduce Dr. Nicholas Petty as our Associate Vice President for Student Belonging and Success and Dean of Students at Cleveland State University. With more than two decades of progressive leadership experience in education, Dr. Petty possesses a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record in improving student success, retention, and engagement with a focus on belonging and well-being. Dr. Petty's aspiration for student success at a public urban institution of higher education is to lead efforts in transformative programming that will ensure equitable educational opportunities for all students.

"He is a proven administrator who will continue to lead efforts to minimize systemic and individual barriers to student success related to basic needs concerning behaviors, health, counseling, and well-being."

Dr. Petty has a proven track record of success in creating and implementing initiatives that improve student persistence, retention, and a quality student experience. His achievements at Cleveland State University include establishing a new department and programs and initiating a large-scale student success program. Among his many achievements, his role in establishing the Graduation Success Coaching Office and directing CSU Living Learning Communities at Cleveland State University is particularly noteworthy.

As Associate Vice President for Student Belonging and Success and Dean of Students, Dr. Petty is dedicated to advancing student behavior, basic needs, health, and well-being at Cleveland State University. His strategic foresight and innovative strategies will enhance the overall student experience.

Dr. Petty's academic journey is a testament to his commitment to education. He holds a Philosophy of Urban Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Cleveland State University, a Master of Education from Cleveland State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies from Kent State University.

As Associate Vice President for Student Belonging and Success and Dean of Students, Dr. Petty will continue to serve with compassion, love, and a sense of urgency that humanizes the student experience by providing tailored support students need to excel in post-secondary environments.
